The Aylesbeare Branch covers the area south of Exeter and includes 9 towers ranging from 6 to 12 bells. Despite giving its name to the branch, Aylesbeare is actually one of the more northerly towers in the branch, which covers a fairly small area from Sowton in the north down to Exmouth in the south, with many of the other towers spread along the Exe estuary.

We are a small branch of around 50 members with skills ranging from learners to call changes and method ringers of all abilities. We take part in many Guild activities and events and endeavour to enter a team from the branch in each section of the annual striking competition.

Our monthly branch practices are published on the web site. We move around the branch to both support tower practice nights as well as making use of the towers where the bells are not rung so often. In the winter months Saturday morning practices have been introduced including coffee and cake.  We have one or two outings a year visiiting other parts of Devon or even venturing into Somerset.

Only five of the towers in the branch have regular weekly practices, Topsham, Lympstone, Littleham Withycombe Raleigh and Woodbury. Some of our towers are situated where there are few residents and in most cases only occasional services where it is proving very difficult to maintain full bands of ringers. Between the members of the branch though, we do our best to keep the bells ringing in all nine towers, helping each other out when necessary and ensuring that bells are rung for services, weddings and special occasions.
